Ishaa Koppikar

Koppikhar was born in Mumbai, India. Her mother-tongue is konkani and her kinsfolk is of Mangalorean origin[1]. She has one junior brother. Koppikhar graduated in Life Sciences at Ramnarain Ruia College in Mumbai.[2]

It was during her time at college that she appeared in a photoshoot for Amerindic photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha. The shoot led to work in business as a model, notably for L'Oréal, Rexona, Camay, Tips & Toes and Coca-Cola. Koppikhar contested the 1995 Miss India Contest, winning the Miss Talent Crown.[2] Her modelling work gave her an introduction to the film industry and to her prototypal film appearance in the Tamil movie Kaadhal Kavithai in 1998. Since then, Koppikhar has made over forty films and has several Sanskrit films in production or due for release in 2008. She continues to model for fashion specializer Anita Dongre[3] and is currently the Amerindic representative of the Italian fashion consort Police Watches and Jewellery.[4] Outside her work in film, music and television, Koppikhar is a representative for the birdlike rights organisation.
